AstroKit respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and store your information.

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy is issued by Feral Pixel Limited, the developer and operator of AstroKit. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, Feral Pixel Limited is the "data controller" of your personal data.

1. Data We Collect

AstroKit may collect the following types of data:

• IP Address: Collected by our servers and infrastructure (e.g., Cloudflare, and our internal services) for routing, security, diagnostics, and performance monitoring.
• Location Data: Latitude and longitude to approximately 1km precision (rounded to two decimal places).
• Diagnostic Logs: May include IP address, timestamp, device type, and location data for service monitoring and troubleshooting. Stored for up to 30 days.
• Cached Data: Weather and location-based responses may be temporarily cached for performance purposes, and automatically expire within 1 hour.
• Account Data (if applicable): If you register, we will store your email address and hashed password along with any preferences or account settings.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your location data is used exclusively for:

• Diagnostics to improve app performance and resolve issues.
• Caching to optimize app speed and responsiveness.
• Location data is anonymized and aggregated, before sometimes being used for service improvements.
  Service improvements may include the following:
  • Targeted deployment of resources.
  • Application localisation.
• Weather Information: Location data is transmitted to our internal weather API to provide you with relevant weather updates within the app. Once received, your location data is never transmitted outside our network.
• Geolocation: Location data is transmitted to our internal geolocation and geocoding API to provide a named location within the app as well as providing the ability to search for locations. We do not use external services for geocoding and geolocation.

3. Data Sharing and Processors

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. However, we may use third-party services to operate and maintain the AstroKit service. These may include hosting providers, caching/CDN providers (e.g., Cloudflare), and analytics tools. All third-party processors are subject to data protection agreements to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws.

4. Data Storage and Deletion

• IP addresses are stored securely for up to 30 days, after which they are permanently deleted.
• Location data in logs is stored securely for up to 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
• Anonymous location data is stored securely for up to 180 days, after which it is permanently deleted.
• Cached data is automatically removed from all storage after 1 hour. Where automated processes fail, we aim to clear cached data within 1 day.

5. Data Usage Promise

AstroKit and Feral Pixel Limited pledge not to use your data for advertising or other targeted purposes. We will only use your data for service improvements and to provide the information required to allow the AstroKit app to function.

If you believe your data has been misused or your rights have been infringed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

6. Your Privacy Rights

AstroKit may collect certain technical information such as IP addresses and approximate location (e.g., latitude/longitude to two decimal places) for operational and analytical purposes. These may be considered personal data under data protection laws such as the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, or similar international regulations. If you choose to register an account, we will also process the personal data you provide (e.g., email address).

You have rights under applicable data protection laws, including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data. Please note that fulfilling a deletion request may result in the permanent removal of your account and any associated data, if applicable. 7. Cookies and Analytics

AstroKit does not currently use cookies or third-party analytics tools that store data on your device. Some technical data may be processed through our infrastructure provider (e.g., Cloudflare) for security and performance purposes.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date and "Version" above.
